Welcome to the Wimmera Bird Club Inc.

The Wimmera Bird Club is made up of people from all ages & from all different backgrounds - all with a common interest in birds. We welcome new members from those who are interested in aviary birds, their welfare, care & breeding - both in captivity and in the wild. We have members from  Donald, Dimboola, Hamilton, Horsham, Nhill, Stawell and many other places in between & beyond.

We are here to share our passion, skills & knowledge and to learn from each other. It doesn't matter how many birds you have - we just like getting together to talk, have fun and learn.

We are a very informal club; we usually have our meetings at 12.30 pm on the second Sunday of most months, at various members' homes. Visitors and new members are always welcomed.

We put out a regular newsletter to keep our members informed of news & upcoming events as well as members birds for sale. This service is free for members.

We arrange outings each year to different places - usually to other clubs or branches, on either day trips or weekends.

Please have a look around the site, and why not come along to a meeting? We would love to meet you.

The Wimmera

The Wimmera is a region in the west of the Australian state of Victoria. It covers the dryland farming area south of the range of Mallee scrub, east of the South Australia border and north of the Great Dividing Range. It can also be defined as the land within the social catchment of Horsham, its main settlement.
Most of the Wimmera is very flat, with only the Grampians and Mount Arapiles rising above vast plains and the low plateaux that form the Great Divide in this part of Victoria. The Grampians are very rugged and tilted, with many sheer sandstone cliffs on their eastern sides, but gentle slopes on the west.
